Everyone wants to beat Toyota into the ground lately due to their unfortunate “issues” but let’s face it, Toyota has had one of the best reputations for building a quality vehicle in the history of automobiles and that’s just a fact. All sticky gas pedal jokes aside, Toyota is still a worthy contender even if Hyundai, among others, are trying to dethrone Toyota of being quality king. What about performance king in the midsized car segment? How about a drag race of Hyundai’s newest 4-cylinder Sonata up against what used to be the best selling midsized sedan in the country? We know that a drag race only measures one performance angle but it is a good start.

The recent recall of many Toyota models has raised crucial questions about the impact on the automotive industry. While it is too early to fully measure, TrueCar.com, the online authority in car pricing transparency, has been analyzing the situation, and providing insight to those seeking detailed information on the event and how it will effect both consumers and dealers. Hoping to assist consumers that are overwhelmed with the news, TrueCar has created a Toyota Recall page, which will be continuously updated with news and information on sales, pricing, and incentives for the recalled Toyota models. It also identifies a list of comparable cars for consumers who were in the market to buy one of the “stop sell” Toyota models but have since decided against it. In addition to the Toyota Recall page, TrueCar has written a blog with more basic information on the recall. Be sure to visit both pages often, as they will be updating frequently with the latest information on the events.

Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. said today that it would recall 2.3 million vehicles for sticking accelerator pedals, in addition to the 4.2 million Toyota and Lexus vehicles already being recalled. That said, about 1.7 million vehicles out there on the roads are involved in both recalls, though no Lexus or Scion models are involved in the one announced today. Read more…
