Nico Rosberg Terrifies David Coulthard On The ‘Ring

I know this as fact: ex-racing drivers make the world’s worst passengers at the hands of current racing drivers. David Coulthard is no stranger to going fast: the Scottish driver raced in Formula One from 1994 through 2008, racking up some 13 career victories and 12 pole positions. He’s still racing, driving in the DTM series for Mücke Motorsports.

Nico Rosberg is a current F1 driver and teammate to Michael Schumacher at Mercedes-Benz. Rosberg is young, but that doesn’t mean he’s inexperienced; in fact, he’s got five and a half seasons of F1 experience under his belt, but that’s not reassuring to David Coulthard when he climbs in a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG for a hot lap of the Nürburgring Nordschleife. I’m sure Coulthard wasn’t reassured to learn that Rosberg was a ‘Ring virgin, and the wet pavement probably didn’t help the Scot’s nerves any. Sideways at triple-digit speeds is puckering, no matter who’s behind the wheel. Enjoy the epic video below. Read more…

Let’s be honest: as journalists, we much prefer driving and writing about the latest fire-breathing, earth-shaking supercars. Readers prefer stories about them too, but when it comes time to part with hard earned cash, a lot of the transactions are in the subcompact class of cars. That list includes cars like the Toyota Yaris, the Honda Fit, the Nissan Versa, the Mazda 2, the Ford Fiesta and the upcoming Chevy Sonic. As gas prices have increased, subcompact segment sales have gone through the roof, with sales growth in segment now above 85 percent. Read more…

Subaru’s WRX: The Official Escape Vehicle Of The Zombie Apocalypse?

I hate to boast, but I consider myself one of the world’s foremost authorities on the upcoming zombie apocalypse. My go-bag is packed, I’ve got a decent selection of anti-zombie firearms and I’ve read “The Zombie Survival Guide” from cover to cover. Several times, in fact. I’ve even got my own choice of zombie escape vehicle parked in my garage, and it isn’t a Subaru WRX. More on that later. Read more…

2012 Hyundai Genesis R Spec: First Impressions

Hyundai’s Azera paved the way into the luxury market for the Korean automaker, proving that it could be successful selling a car above the $30k price point. The Azera led to the launch of the slightly larger and more upscale Genesis, which ultimately led to the launch of their Equus flagship sedan. Its trio of luxury (or near-luxury) cars not only gives Hyundai the ability to attract new customers, but it also ensures that brand loyalists have a clear upgrade path through Hyundai’s product line. That strategy has produced sales success for both the Equus, which now owns 5 percent of the premium luxury market, and the Genesis, which has had 24 months of year-over-year sales increases.
