The 2012 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque seems to be a vehicle that was groomed to receive the distinguished North American Truck of the year award. With its unique styling and much anticipated release last year, the 2012 Range Rover Evoque embodied a new sense of styling for a cross-over utility vehicle.

Each year, a panel of automotive journalists picks the one car (and one truck) that stands out above the rest of the herd in North America. Unlike awards given by individual media outlets, the NACTOY award is significant because it’s based on the consensus of 50 different viewpoints. To be considered, a vehicle must be all-new or substantially revised from a former model, must go on sale shortly after the announcement of the award and must have projected annual sales of 5,000 units for cars or 2,000 units for trucks. Hyundai Genesis and Ford F-150 Named North American Car and Truck of the Year

The launch of the 2009 North American International Auto Show in Detroit starts off with the announcement of the North American Car and Truck of the Year. Making it to the finish line, the Hyundai Genesis and Ford F-150 were just named as the North American Car and Truck of the Year for 2009.
The awards were selected in part of being “the most outstanding vehicles of the year based on factors that include innovation, design, safety, handling, driver satisfaction and value for the dollar.” For a shot at the title, eligible vehicles must be “all-new” or “substantially changed”.
Ford must be very happy to hear this in being one of America’s Big 3 that has been in the news for the past several months in talks about THE BAILOUT. Hyundai has to be very proud of the major accomplishments over the past few years in jumping over hurdles that were owned by foreign car makers such as Toyota and Honda. With the new accomplishments we can look forward to everyone else catching their breath in the ultimate automotive race as we embark on a new technologies to carry us into the fuel efficient future.
